2009 - The 41 Club National Final

Rotherham Continuity - The 2008 winners are looking forward to defending their Championship in 2009.

At the recent National Council Meeting it was agreed that the 2009 event would be held at Longcliffe Golf Club, Loughborough on 30 September 2009.

All National Councillors agreed to arrange a competition and qualify a Team for the Final.

National VP Richard Matthews has the date in his diary and all those concerned are looking forward to an event that might be better than this year.

2008 - THE FINAL

Drew Cochran - in the company of David Smith and Mark Campbell (Who sponsored the prizes for the Championship, welcomed 36 players to the Final at Longcliffe Golf Club. The outcome, Rotherham ( Richard Woffenden (15 h/c), his brother John (18) and Mark Foster (13) were outstanding, inparticular John and Mark who individually had 36 and 30 stapleford points respectively off 3/4 handicap.

The Putting was shared between George Manson from Turriff and David Taylor from Stratford

This will update you on progress for the 41 Club National Golf Final at Longcliffe Golf Club on Monday 29th September 2008.
I am completing the arrangements for the final, this communication will update you about the location etc and request some info from you regarding your team.
First of all , as you know the final will be held at Longcliffe Golf Club, Loughborough http://www.longcliffegolf.co.uk , the address is:-

Tee times have been booked from 10:30 – 1:00 pm and it is my intention to have the teams that are local(ish) or have had an overnight stay to play at earlier times than those that will travel some distance. I would like you to advise me when you expect to arrive.
I would like you to advise team member names and handicaps. The team will consist of three players but some Regions qualified teams of 4 and the full qualified team will be very welcome.
There will be a “draw” and team members will be allocated successive tee times.
There will be a putting completion, a longest drive and a nearest the pin.
The cost of the day will be £40.00 (approx) per person (I have still to finalise the catering) and if there are any special dietary requirements please advise accordingly.
When you arrive there will be coffee, tea and bacon rolls, when you finish there will be a meal and prize giving, in the presentation party there will be Mark Campbell whose company have sponsored the prizes, Drew Cochran, National President who will be playing for the Ashford Team. There will be a (collective noun for) of National Councillors in attendance as well.

The Competition - More Detail

The competition is a Stableford over 18 holes.

Each Team will consist of three players, the winning team being determined by the total of the best two cards of the three.

Prizes - Sponsored by Mark Campbell Motors of Derby

Prizes will be awarded for:

On Course Prizes for:

• Nearest the pin at 15
• Longest Drive at 8

Prize Presentation

The prizes will be presented about 5:00pm by National President Drew Cochran and Mark Campbell will be invited

41 Club National Golf Championship

A few comments following the recent communication indicated that teams of 4 entered the Qualifying Competitions and entry to the National Final was for teams of three. To resolve and to permit all qualifiers to take part we will accept a team of four. A team of four will then be divided into 3 + 1, the three will the comprse the Club /Region team and the 1 will join a "composite" team. There will be National Councillors on hand to complete the composite teams. I do hope this will resolve the issue. As tee times will be drawn with one representative from each Region and not as a team this should not detract from the 'fun and fellowship' for any individual team member!

Hugh Millward is the National Councillor for Region 10, I shall ask him for recommendations for accommodation and post his response.
